Wisconsin Vacation Rental on 20 acres near New Glarus
The Little Sugar River Farm is a vacation rental on 20 acres of garden and orchard close to two bike trails. The property is secluded, surrounded by 2000 acres of wildlife refuge, and ideal for people who want to bike, hike, run, bird, read, and relax. We have been operating the main guesthouse for 14 years, and a large proportion of our guests have returned many times.
The property is less than a quarter of a mile from the 23-mile Sugar River Trail, and five miles from the Badger State Trail. Both trails wind along rivers, through rolling hills, forests, and wildlife areas.
We now offer two lodging options:
The guesthouse: an award-winning, light-filled house that's suitable for one to three couples. $211/night for one couple ($225 with all taxes); $25 per night for each extra adult; $10/night for each well-behaved child. No pets.
Starting in June 2016 (pending final approval from county zoning), we will also be offering lodging in the bunkhouse, a much simpler lodging option that's optimal for larger groups or families with pets. $135/night for one couple; $25 per night for each extra adult; $10/night for each extra child. Well-behaved dogs welcome.
Larger parties are welcome to book both the guesthouse and the bunkhouse, sleeping up to 14 guests.
Less than 30 miles from Madison (all on bike trails), the Little Sugar River Farm is ideal for cyclists and hikers. Because we are surrounded on three sides by the Albany Wildlife Area, the farm is also great for birders and anyone who wants a chance to relax.
"If any of the following appeals to you, this is where you'll want to stay: A home that is a stunning work of art and architecture, simple and inviting, yet luxurious in comfort and amenities. A back porch where you can watch the sun set over prairie, adjacent to a wildlife refuge attracting all manner of birds and butterflies. Thousands of fireflies to match the stars overhead. Barn swallows swooping around the porch in the mornings. ... My husband and I have stayed at more than 40 B&Bs and vacation rentals in Wisconsin over the past five years. This place is in our top 3...if not number-one. We can't wait to return this winter."--review from Julie, repeat guest
Dogs are now welcome in the bunkhouse!
For 13 years, our guests have asked if they could bring dogs. We could never say yes because the main guesthouse isn't set up for pets. But starting this summer, we can now accommodate your dogs in our rustic bunkhouse!
With 15 acres that have been fully fenced, your dog will be able to run and play, just so he or she does not bother other guests or the two friendly dogs that live on the property in a separate house. If your dog is reactive with other dogs or people, he or she should remain leashed, of course.
The Little Sugar River Farm is on Schneeberger Rd, between Albany and Monticello Wisconsin, 25 miles drive from Madison, 15 minutes from New Glarus, and 2 hours from Chicago. For directions and a map, please click here.
