Galleries: Mineral Point and Paoli

Southern Wisconsin has many excellent galleries and studios with tours.  Mineral Point, in particular, is an excellent day trip for visiting galleries, and nearby Paoli also has several excellent studios.  Here are some links to our favorites:

MINERAL POINT has become a magnet for artists--similar to Galena, without the frenzy. Like Galena, it's a beautiful town to visit, with many of the original limestone buildings intact.  The town's website has abundant and well-organized information about the artists, their galleries and studios, and special gallery tours.

An interesting new venture in Mineral Point is The Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts. Hands-on workshops with talented instructors are offered throughout the year.

Each fall, during the third weekend in October, artists open their studio doors and demonstrate their craft for visitors on the Fall Art Tour. Now in its 12th season, the Fall Art Tour celebrates the work and lifestyles of some of Wisconsin's best-known artists, working in unique studios - an historic brewery, restored downtown buildings, and an old schoolhouse just to name a few. Maps and tour information are available at the Mineral Point tour headquarters, Chamber office, or any participating gallery.
