Little Sugar River Farm
The Farm  Things to Do

Dining on the Farm

We have completed a commercial kitchen, which means we can cook meals for guests that highlight  the delicious flavors of utterly fresh, local, organic ingredients. Meals are served family style, with one soup, salad, entree, and dessert choice per group.

Meals are $30 per person, including tax and service (certain requests, such as grass-fed steaks or wild-caught salmon, may cost a bit more, depending on availability).

We do our best to offer guests the tastes of local farmers who take advantage of Wisconsin's extraordinary resources. The beef, pork, and lamb is usually from Jordandal Farm, our neighbors who raise grass-fed, sustainable, organic animals.  The chicken is from the Amish.  The eggs, honey, fruits, and most vegetables are from our land, and the cheeses are from local Swiss artisan cheesemakers. The specific vegetables and fruits we include with each meal will change each week as things come into season locally.

Guests are also welcome to cook for themselves, using produce and eggs from the gardens.

We are always happy to talk with you about special requests, and we're happy to cook from your favorite recipes if you would prefer something that's not on our menu. Please let us know your choice a day in advance, if possible. We are always happy to adjust the menus to reflect your particular tastes or needs.

These prices may seem steep for home-cooking, but we set the prices according to the cost of time and materials, figuring in the cost of local, organic, grass-fed ingredients  and an hourly preparation charge of $12/hour for the cooks. For example, organic cultured butter from local growers who sell through Organic Valley is certainly not as cheap as wholesale bulk butter from Sysco restaurant suppliers, but we believe you can taste the quality of local organic butter, and we also think it's better for the land and for the community.  We don't include our own growing costs. If you compare us to local restaurants that use excellent organic ingredients, we think that you'll find our prices run about 30 to 50% lower, which we hope seems fair for you, since we can't offer every member of your party a different choice.

Prices include all taxes and service.
